Relay for Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society, and is held in every state in the nation, as well as Puerto Rico and Guam. Relay for Life involves teams of 1 to 15 people taking turns walking or running around a track, relay style, for the duration of the event. It is a noncompetitive, team building event. Participants from the community come from businesses, industry, churches, schools, neighborhoods and other organizations. Teams are formed to rally in support of loved ones who are fighting or have lost the battle with cancer. On any given Sunday, our bulletin reflects over 10 people in the church and over 60 friends and family members fighting cancer. This is something we can do as a community to assist in the fight against cancer. Further, it is an official outreach of The First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. Visit www.cancer.org.

| Every cell phone collected equals a donation directly to the American Cancer Society and supports our church Relay teams. Collected phones are either recycled for their precious metals or are refurbished for use in developing countries. Phone memories are "flashed" to wipe out any previous information stored on the phone. Look for cell phone drop boxes in the Gathering Area, Narthex & Workroom. |
