Music Ministry

The mission of the Music Ministry of First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville is to use and develop the gift of music to lead and inspire worshippers on their way to discipleship, and to share the Glory of God throughout the community. Music is a gift from God and becomes a gift returned to God in our songs of praise.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir meets in the Choir Room on Wednesday nights from 7:30 pm to 9:15 pm, and Sunday mornings at 10:30 am. This group leads in worship at the 11:00 am service. In addition to singing anthems and choral responses each week, this group presents two concerts during the year with professional orchestra. Their repertoire ranges from classical music to traditional anthems to spirituals. This ensemble is open to all interested adults and is conducted by Bill Steele.
The Chancel Choir has presented major choral works with professional orchestra including Schubert’s Mass in G, Haydn's Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo, Mozart's Requiem, K. 626, Handel's Messiah (complete), Rutter's Gloria, and Shaw's Many Moods of Christmas.   Click here to listen.

First Praise
First Praise meets in the Sanctuary on Tuesday nights from 7:00—9:00 pm and in the Choir Room on Sunday mornings at 9:15 am. They sing contemporary Christian music accompanied by keyboard, guitars, and drums at the 9:30 am Sunday service.   Click here to listen.

Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir meets in the Choir Room on Monday nights from 7:00—8:30 pm and Sunday mornings at 7:30 am. They sing weekly at the 8:00 am service.

Rejoice
The ladies’ ensemble Rejoice meets on the stage in the Family Center on Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. This group sings a variety of styles from contemporary and light classical to gospel.

Men of Praise
Men of Praise meets in the Choir Room on Wednesday nights from 6:30—7:30 pm. This gospel-type ensemble is a community-wide favorite and sings intermittently throughout the year.

Youth Choir
alt (Grades 6—12) - The Exalt Youth Choir meets in the Choir Room on Sunday afternoons from 4:00—5:00 pm. Exalt sings occasionally at morning worship services in the fall and spring.


An annual musical tour is held the second full week of June.

Children's Choirs - (ages 3 through 5th grade)
The Children’s Choirs are divided into 3 ensembles. They rehearse on Wednesdays from 5:15—6:00 pm. They sing 3 times in worship in the fall and 3 times in the spring. A Christmas musical is presented the first Sunday in December and a spring musical is presented the last Sunday in March. The spring musical always concludes with an awards ceremony and pizza party. All children are invited and encouraged to participate. Come join in on the fun.

Asbury Ringers
The Asbury Ringers meet in Room 208/210 on Monday evenings from 6:00—7:30 pm. This is an advanced auditioned handbell group. The Asbury Ringers participate in the annual Sweet Sounds of Christmas concert and present an annual spring concert.
